Paver sealing cost calculator
Sealing is three jobs sold as one, and the failures almost always trace to collapsing them. Clean is one line. Re-sanding the joints is a second. Sealing is a third, and it cannot start until the pavers are genuinely dry all the way through. Price the sealing line here, then add the cleaning line from its own band.

The three lines
| Line | $/sq ft | Day | Gate before starting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clean and strip old sealer | 0.30–0.55 | 1 | Weather window |
| Re-sand joints (polymeric) | 0.35–0.70 | 1–2 | Surface dry, joints dry |
| Seal, two coats | 0.90–1.90 | 2–3 | 24–48 h dry, no rain forecast |
Re-sanding is charged from its own band and is not in this calculator’s output; the seal line is. Quote all three or none.
What ruins a seal job
- Trapped moisture. Seal over damp pavers and the film goes milky. That is a strip-and-redo, on you.
- Efflorescence not dealt with. The white bloom comes back under the sealer and cannot be reached.
- Blasting the joint sand out. A zero-degree tip in a joint empties it in a second and the pavers move.
- One heavy coat instead of two thin ones. Puddles, gloss banding, and a surface that peels.
Surface damage risk
Cure, not dry
Worked example
A 600 sq ft paver patio, moderate condition, easy access. The seal line alone at $0.90–$1.90 gives $540–$1,140. Add cleaning at $0.30–$0.55 ($180–$330) and re-sanding, and the honest whole-job number is roughly $930–$1,890 across three visits.
